How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, because the ease of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind when trying to carry out tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machine make it the best option for performing jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine next to an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger could potentially happen.
