The forklift is a material handling machinery utilized to lift and move loads from one location to another. Each forklift part has a particular function. Different parts can be used to transport the load either vertically or horizontally.

Mast
The components used to lift and lower the load is known as the forklift mast. There are various kinds of masts for raising loads to various heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.

Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated inside the cab under the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is beneath the back of the truck.

Cab
The forklift cab is located within the middle of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all located inside the cab.

Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the biggest components of the forklift, including the counterweights, which are situated at the rear in order to stop the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame includes the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
