Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts that describe the application and fuel option of each type of forklift. Certification is truly necessary for each and every class of forklift which the operator would be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are suggested during dry conditions for outdoor application. The cushion tired models are designed for indoor surfaces that are smooth. These are electrically powered vehicles that make use of industrial batteries, which make them desirable within closed locations where the quality of air is a concern. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units usually used everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
This particular forklift is suggested for places where narrow aisles have to be negotiated. They are efficient at maximizing the use of storage space. Their unique design makes them perfect for small spaces and where speed is required.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These battery-powered, hand-controlled models are intended for the operator to stand in front of the truck and operate the lift using a steering tiller. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved laterally to be able to maneuver the vehicle. The units which have smaller capacity use industrial batteries.
